The University of Arkansas Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble is made up of approximately 15 tuba and euphonium players. The group consists principally of music majors, although non-majors are welcome to participate. The Ensemble strives to perfrom a variety of music including choral and orchestral transcriptions as well as original works for the tuba/euphonium ensemble medium. The group provides valuable experience for the players involved, as the parts are much more difficult and exposed than those typically played in the larger ensembles. Many of the pieces are performed with the full ensemble and involve doubling, while some pieces are played one per part in true chamber music fashion. Younger students learn from their experienced colleagues by playing alongside them in the group. |
